Bishop White Manor is truly one of Trinity's architectural
treasures. Now, you can experience this wonderful building yourself. Built sometime
at the turn of the 19th century, it is one of the oldest standing homes in
Trinity and was the childhood home of Newfoundland's first native-born
Anglican Bishop, Bishop William Charles White.
The Bishop White
room boasts bay windows, an old fashioned bathtub and the
very same four-poster wooden bed used by the bishop himself over a century
ago. The attic common room runs the full length of the building and the
parlour has a classic tin ceiling.
You'll be taken by
the elegance and character, your soul buoyed by a rich taste of 19th
century colonial culture. Light shines in through the windows here in ways
you just don't see anymore. Relaxing here sets a special tone, a tone that
recalls a more peaceful, reflective era.
You'll be spellbound, absorbed in flights of fancy,
imagining what life must have been like in this prestigious outpost in the
early 1800s.
